Democrat Brandon Peters, a professional mediator and attorney who resides in Levy County, has recently qualified for the ballot in the race for the congressional seat in House District 2. Brandon is connecting with communities across Florida’s 2nd Congressional District to hear voter concerns and generate enthusiasm for replacing one-term Republican Congressman Neal Dunn.
Peters (age 50), who lives with his family, including his wife, Stacey, in Williston, Florida, is running for Congress on a platform focused on standing up for North and North-Central Florida and restoring a strong voice for FL-02 in Congress.
Brandon recently held an open house at his campaign headquarters near Ocala, welcoming supporters from Levy, Marion, and surrounding counties to join him and work together to elect new leadership to Congress. He has also attended multiple campaign events in Leon, Bay, Washington, Jackson, Gulf, Marion, Franklin, Gilchrist, Wakulla, and other counties in the district, speaking about a range of issues including the need to protect Social Security and Medicare from austerity cuts, expanding access to quality healthcare, strengthening our schools, fighting the opioid crisis, supporting organized labor, and investing in infrastructure and jobs programs to strengthen our economy.
After a successful open house where he met with his supporters and voters in the area, Brandon travelled to Tallahassee to officially qualify for the ballot.
Peters’ Campaign Manager, Michael Newberger, made the following statement after qualifying:
“I urge all Florida Democrats and other interested voters in the district to join us in this growing movement to restore the North Florida Way and take our Florida values to Congress. As our campaign engages with voters across the district, we hear a strong desire for change and real leadership. Brandon is not just another politician. He was born and raised in Florida, and he’s concerned about the future of his state. Mr. Peters is prepared to serve his neighbors with a forward-looking vision and a people-focused approach. To win this election, we will need all hands on deck. This election isn’t just about Brandon Peters, it’s about sending a clear voice to Washington to represent all of us in saying that it’s time for a change. Please step up to help us prior to the August Primary and the November General Election.”
